Nippon Electric Glass review reinforcement fibre operation
The future of glass
fibre reinforcement in the UK is under review by parent company. Nippon
Electric Glass and the company's European manufacturing site Electric
Glass Fibre in Wigan. European glass fibre plants are under pressure
from lower cost imports outside the area.
NEG bought the site from PPG in 2016 and in 2024 the Wigan plant underwent a major refurbishment, costing
around £10 million.
The Guardian newspaper in the UK reported this on Saturday.
