A hollow core optical fibre fabricated at the University of Bath

Multi-core anti-resonant hollow core fibre

Kerrianne Harrington and researchers at the University of Bath have successfully fabricated and characterized a hollow multi-core fibre with low inter-core coupling, achieving optical losses as low as 0.03 dB/m at 620 nm and 0.08 dB/m at 1000 nm. Through fabricating this structure, we also gained fresh insights into fibre design and fabrication.

Very impressive cross section, a significant challenge for the preform fabrication.
