The International Congress on Glass conference banquet, sponsored by Türkiye Şişecam, took place on 20th January evening aboard the Ganges Queen, a cruise boat on the Ganga (Ganges) river. To the pleasant surprise of many, SGT President Arun Varshneya sang a Hindi welcome song in appreciation of the holy river which suggests that the river encourages people having different names, different looks, different spoken languages to “look at each other with affection.”
The Şişecam group of attendees were led by Dr Ilkay Sokmen, Innovations Director (centre) and, in deep appreciation for the banquet sponsorship and the large Şişecam contribution to the SGT, Arun sang a Hindi “love song” to Ilkay aboard the cruise boat (with wife Darshana looking on).
