Properties and structure of sodium fluoroborate glasses
PC 1989 4 151-154
Glasses containing as much as 55 mol% NaF (38 mol% Na2F2) have been formed in the binary sodium fluoroborate system; their density, refractive index, thermal expansion, glass transformation temperature, viscosity, and electrical conductivity have been measured.
These glasses exhibit behaviour similar to, but not identical with, that commonly known as the borate
anomaly. A structural model is proposed which explains the differences between the properties of these glasses and those of the more common sodium borate glasses.
