BBC Radio 4’s flagship cultural ideas programme, ‘Start the Week' is putting together a programme for Monday 29th January all about glass – the glass industry, artistry in glass, glass in science, etc!
There is an exhibition on glass starting at Two Temple Place in London called The Glass Heart which will open next week, so we were first inspired by that.
Professor John Parker HonFSGT will be one of the live contributors as will: Professor Claire Corkhill (Nuclear Waste), Jasmine Allen (curator of the Stained Glass museum in Ely) and glassmaker and artist, Ayako Tani. She makes scientific instruments at the University of Glasgow, as well as her own craft pieces such as glass ships in bottles.
The programme will be broadcast at 9.00 on Monday 29 January and a recording will be available on BBC Sounds.
