Professor Aldo R. Boccaccini FSGT is the 2025 recipient of the Larry L. Hench Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bioceramics Division of theThe American Ceramic Society.
Professor Boccaccini wrote: “This is a tremendous honour, especially meaningful because my collaboration with Prof. Larry Hench atImperial College Londonnearly
20 years ago was a defining moment in my career. It inspired and
influenced my research in biomaterials, with a focus on bioactive
glasses. “This award is, without a doubt, a recognition
of the outstanding contributions of all members of my research group,
past and present, both at Imperial and at theInstitute of Biomaterials University of Erlangen - Nuremberg,FAU Erlangen-Nürnbergas
well as the many researchers worldwide with whom I have had the
pleasure to collaborate over the years. Their dedication and hard work
have made this achievement possible.”
The presentation will be made at MS&T25: Materials Science & Technology (September 28–October 1, 2025) where Professor Boccaccini will present the lecture: "Larry Hench’s Insights and
Ionic Medicine: Current and Future Opportunities for Bioactive Glasses "
